Prepare for your 3D Games Design Camp!
This page explains how you can prepare for the 3D Game Design camp!
Step 1: Install Unreal Engine
We’ve created this tutorial to walk you through this process step by step.
Even though this is a free software, it requires a relatively recent computer to run. Typically, any computer or laptop purchased within the previous 4 years should be sufficient. Unreal Engine works on both Windows and Mac OS X, but cannot be used on other devices such as Chromebooks or tablets.
Please note you can install any version of Unreal Engine, but Unreal Engine 5 requires a more powerful computer to run. We do however recommend all students to download Unreal Engine 4.24.
If you’re a tech savvy parent, you may be interested in reading the official system requirements here.
In the event that your system does not meet the requirement to join this camp, we offer an excellent alternative with our Python coding camp which has a significantly lower system requirement and will work fine on most computers & laptops.
Struggling to get it to work?
Most parents are able to follow the step-by-step instructions on this page without technical difficulties. This is the quickest and most straightforward method to prepare for your course.
However, should you encounter any difficulties after trying the instructions provided, you can click here to book a free 15 minute tech support session for one of our staff to help you out.
Step 2: Make sure you are familiar with Zoom
Online classes are delivered using Zoom.
You will receive an email on the morning of your session with the zoom details.
By clicking on the invitation link, you will be able to join the class.
If you do not already have Zoom downloaded and installed on your computer, clicking on the link will automatically prompt you to do so.
This should not take more than a few minutes.
Never downloaded Zoom before?
