AI & Machine Learning Holiday Camps for kids & teens
Build your own AI, learn to code and explore the universe
Make the most of your school holidays to learn how AI and machine learning is changing the world, using the extremely desirable Python programming language and through the lens of astrophysics.
This course contributes towards achieving an NCFE accredited qualification!
When does it run?
This is a week-long holiday camp course, and only runs during school breaks, such as Half-Terms, Easter Breaks and Summer Holidays.
Your child will attend classes from 09:30 – 13:00, Monday to Friday. You can view the exact dates of available camps on our booking page.
Where does it take place?
All our classes are online with a live tutor. Your child will be able to see the tutor and their screen. Just like a physical lesson, your child can ask for help and request their tutor to see & even control their screen.
In the 21st Century, it’s crucial for your child to learn “how to learn online”, because if your child master’s this skill, there will be no limit to what they can learn!
Who is it for?
This course is suitable for students 10 to 16+ years old. No previous experience required!
What does it teach?
Students will learn to use Python, an programming language used in industry by major tech companies, to build AI and machine learning algorithms – all using the immense and complex world of astrophysics as a platform. They’ll unveil the mystery surrounding AI, and take the first step on the journey to being on the forefront of the new tech revolution.
Why choose this course?
This course is designed by an Astrophysics researcher and PhD student, and teaches the same tools and skills as university Physics degrees. It also contributes towards achieving an NCFE accredited qualification!
How do they get certified?
A single camp provides 50% of the criteria required for achieving an NCFE Accredited Qualification. By joining 2 camps, you will meet the full requirement for achieving our Level 1 Award Qualification. Assessment is coursework based and completed during class hours, with no further exams required but there is a small additional assessment fee for this.

Our AI & Machine Learning camps are each completely unique from anything else you will find.
In a 5-day long camp, your child will learn how to code, build a machine learning algorithm (AI) – all through the lens of a fascinating astrophysical problem.
Python is the programming language students will learn, an open and powerful language used by massive companies like Google, Netflix, Facebook and so many more.
Using industry standard tools like VS Code and PyTorch, students will learn to build programs to build, train and test machine learning algorithms – AI!
By the end of this holiday camp, students will have solved a complex astrophysical problem using AI; learning about space, code and machine learning along the way. They’ll improve their problem solving and critical thinking skills too, and out the end get the satisfaction of building a solution to a challenging problem.

Your child will...
Data is critical to building AI & Machine Learning algorithms, and in this course students learn how to handle big datasets from the field of astronomy. Understanding the ins and outs of the data is essential, and the fascinating astronomical data makes that fun! Wielding the large and complex data, students will train and test AI algorithms to solve real problems in astronomy.
Soft skills like problem solving and critical thinking are heavily emphasised by the course, as programming involves these skills like nothing else. They’ll also pick up knowledge and skills that will help in school and beyond, in Maths and Physics.
This course will help your child progress faster & better at school and beyond. Students will learn a lot more about computer science, how coding works, science, and AI.
At Software Academy, you will also have the option to get your child certified. Our NCFE accredited qualifications go up to 3 levels: Level 1 Award, Level 2 Certificate, and Level 3 Diploma. By joining 2 holiday camps, your child will meet the requirements to achieve Level 1 award, and can then progress onto level 2 & 3!
Ai & Machine Learning use the core skills used throughout the tech industry, and AI itself is the new big field taking the world by storm. Learning industry standard tools and real world skills, our students discover potential careers by learning highly transferable skills and knowledge.

Additionally, by completing a camp, students will achieve 1/2 of the criteria required to get an NCFE accredited qualification, should you choose to get your child officially certified!
This camp runs during school holidays, so it’s been designed with fun & excitement in mind! But the bigger picture is that your child will build AI instead of using them.
