Ethan’s Father, Paul:
“Ethan has autism and ADHD. The tutors at his local college reviewed a portfolio of his work and said they would have been happy to put him straight on the HNC/HND programme given the level of work he’s done. They were extremely impressed with Ethan’s progress and also said he should consider applying for University given his progress to date.
Software Academy has been a truly transformational learning opportunity. Without the amazing focused help of his tutors, Ethan would not be in such an excellent academic position with an exciting future ahead in the gaming industry.” – Paul, Ethan’s dad.

In her own words:
My home-schooling background fueled my passion for game design. At Software Academy, I received a comprehensive education on video game creation, alongside the skills and qualifications required for university admission. This gave me a distinct advantage over peers new to the world of game design.
Following my 1st class honour’s degree, I returned to Software Academy as a tutor, guiding young students in a situation I once shared.
Now, my journey in game design continues at SEGA, one of the world’s most famous multinational video game companies, offering me the opportunity to further explore the creative industries and make a meaningful impact.

Software Academy is where my love for game design began to grow, and it provided the perfect environment for my skills to develop. While I had a small interest in video games and animated movies when I joined, it was during my time at Software Academy that I became truly passionate and inspired by them. My amazing tutor played a crucial role in not only improving my skills but also shaping me as a person who now aims for a career in the video game and animation industry.
Now, I have gained entry to university in Spain to continue my educational journey. I’m also working at Software Academy as a tutor, which I see as the next step towards achieving my ultimate goal. It brings me closer to what I want to do in the future.

In his own words:
I’m seven years old, but when I grow up I’m going to design video games. Digital worlds let me set my imagination loose and invite players on adventures no one has seen before.
I started by building in Minecraft and moved on to Scratch, where I programmed mini-games and animations. Then a YouTube video introduced me to Unreal Engine. I told my mum I needed to learn it so I could create bigger, cooler games. She found Software Academy, and it has been perfect.
In just a few months I have picked up Unreal Engine and Unity. My mentors, Xaq and Luke, make every session exciting – we brainstorm, we debug, we laugh, and they show me how to turn my ideas into playable worlds.
If you are serious about becoming a game designer, even at my age, Software Academy is the smartest place to start!
